Indelible Marks

Indelible Marks flyer

Indelible Marks, opening May 13th in Oakland’s newest gallery, Gamma Space, is an exploration of contemporary line and mark making, showcasing four talented young Bay Area artists. Through the lens of the modern interpretation of the calligraphic line, artists noa-, Hunter De La Ghetto, Jasper Marino, and ESK will present works that explore mark making as part of a larger art practice. Culturally infused calligraphic linework will be combined with contemporary collage and painting works to create a synthesis of past and present reflections on communication through visual iconography. With a diverse mix of installation, performance and studio work, these four figures will cover the spectrum of calligraphic expression through a barrage of linework matrixes, exploring both round and flat brush work, and navigating through two and three dimensional visual space, bringing the quiet tradition of calligraphic line into a new light.

Opening night: May 13th, 2011
7pm-, no cover
